The Frame of the Race 2016

Horserace is news content that emphasizes the political or election process as a competition between candidates, including poll driven coverage.  We've seen this for the past three weeks where the candidates go head to head in competition known as "Super Tuesday", a race for delegates to win the party nomination.  In the picture below, you will see the results of last night's Super Tuesday results.

With conflict, news content focuses on how two or more candidates or political parties are in conflict with one another.  You see this in the Republican debate where Senator Cruz (TX) and Senator Rubio (FL) attack Donald Trump for being a con-artist and capitalizing on the fears of the American people.  They also accuse him of being a long time supporter of the Democratic party,  his failed business ventures, and his lack of urgency to denounce a former prominent member of the KKK, David Duke.

Issues is news content that highlight issue positions or public policy proposals of the candidates or parties. 
Bernie Sanders unveils a policy to combat racial inequality in America. Sanders proposes a series of police reforms, including the demilitarization of police forces, a federal program giving police body cameras, and increasing police transparency and accountability. He also calls for an end to mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent offenses and bemoans the disproportionate rate at which blacks are targeted by police.

Of course, there is no other candidate more fitting for this frame than Donald Trump.  I guess if you consider being a insulting, arrogant, know-it-all, riot inciting bully candidate attributes then, here you go.  He knows nothing about politics and he's winning in the polls.  Meanwhile, you got seasoned politicians dropping out left and right because they can't seem to win any delegates.  His experience is 0 to none.  His mouth has been a gift and a curse to his campaign.  When a prominent KKK member endorses you and angry, hateful racists heavily attend your rallies blatantly discriminating against people of color, that says a lot about your character and what people in this country you represent.
