The Presidential Race and Three Themes

The 2016 presidential race is taking shape.  We're now getting a feel for who is left and who is on the way out.  Essentially, one would think that the anti-establishment candidates would be the first to go.  That is not the case.  As you see on the Republican side, you still have Donald as the frontrunner and on the although Hillary is leading on the Democratic side, you still have Bernie Sanders putting a fight.  The anti-establishment candidates have made a name for themselves in this whole political process.  One of the things that really captures the American people is the message.  The campaign slogan.  When you the American people are not happy about the way are going in the country it is easy to feed off of that energy and then capitalize off of it.  Donald Trump is a prime example.  I don't know who is voting for him but apparently people love his political incorrectness and therefore, he's able to build a brand based off of people's discontent with the politicians currently in office.
Even though Dr. Ben Carson is no longer in the running, he still used his personal life story to draw in a lot of support from Republican voters.  His childhood was rough, his mom had to work extremely hard and she only had a third grade education.  He survived the mean streets of Detroit to one of the most renowned neurosurgeons in the world.  He used his words for positivity.
Candidates now have social media accounts to interact with supporters.  Facebook, most notable Twitter, is the platform used by the candidates to tweet out information, ask for support, or just to insult other candidates.  With modern technology, candidates can really advertise themselves a numerous of ways.  Social media has really contributed to the success in Donald Trump's campaign and Bernie Sanders as well.  Both candidates mentioned draw big numbers at rallies and I personally had the pleasure of attending a rally for Bernie Sanders.
