The persuasive methods of The Trump

In an age where people want to have a voice in everything going on in the world, Donald Trump gives them that option. Well, maybe not everything going on in the world. But when it comes to weather or not he should appear on FOX for their upcoming GOP debate, Trump seeks advice from his Twitter followers. A previous scuffle between The Trump and Megyn Kelly has left a sour taste in Trumps' mouth. Megyn Kelly had brought Trump's politically incorrect remarks towards women to the surface; causing Trump to label her as being "unfair".
This is a method that Trump is using to both persuade and mobilize the public. But let's look deeper than just the surface at Trump's turn towards Twitter. Many media figures and voters not in favor of Trump are calling his behavior outlandish and silly. However, it could be argued that Trump is using Twitter in an effort to show his supporters that he really values their opinions.

"Woah...Trump actually wants me to tell him if he should go to the debate?"
"This is a guy that wants to talk directly to the people!"

Trump appears to be rather proficient in the art of persuasion. Trump's main argument as to why he is so hesitant to accept the invitation to FOX's next GOP debate is because of Megyn Kelly's previous debate questioning. Reaching out to the public in this manner may or may not have altered the opinions of many of his followers. Some of his supporters could now have a bias opinion of FOX solely because of Trump's testimonies. With Trump being such a heavy advocate of social media campaigning, he can get almost instant feedback from millions of people about anything that he may or may not agree with.

A goal of any presidential candidate should be to establish a strong following of supporters from the very beginning of their campaigns. Trump's values and opinions have caused nearly an entire race to rally against him. In Luciana Lopez's article, Lopez describes how Trump's campaign rhetoric regarding illegal Mexican immigrants has sparked more than just controversy among voters. In his article, Lopez talks about how several artists at the Latin Grammy Awards held up a sign that read...

"Latinos united don't vote for racists."

Lopez also mentions how officials report that, "When Donald Trump decided to get into the campaign by insulting all the Latinos, we saw an increase in voter registration." Nearly 32,000 new Latino Americans registered to vote in 2015, according to officials.

So, ultimately there is a lesson to be learned by Trumps actions both from his outreach to his Twitter followers and his campaign rhetoric. Both have successfully mobilized and persuaded voters to either support or reject Trump as a presidential candidate. When Trump announced that Mexico was "sending" over their drugs and their crime to America, for some reason, he decided to label illegal immigrants as "rapists". Being a successful business man, one would hope that Trump realizes that for every action their is an equal and opposite reaction. With these statements made towards Mexico and illegal immigrants, Trump has probably lost support from the vast majority of the Mexican American voters. However, it could also be argued that Trump has gained support for his ludicrous remarks in hopes of mobilizing hard working American citizens together in an effort to get jobs back into the hands of legally documented Americans.
